“LOVE YOU, MEAN IT PDF” by author Jilly Gagnon is a fresh contemporary romance tale. It’s packed with classic romance themes like enemies turned lovers, opposite personalities attracting, and pretending to date.
Ellie Greco had dreams of being a costume designer, but five years ago, her dad passed away, leaving their family deli, Greco’s Deli, in need of help. She returned to her hometown of Milborough and put all her efforts into running the deli.
Now, trouble looms as Ellie discovers the Taylor family, local landlords, are planning to lease space to a big-box store that could put Greco’s Deli out of business. Ellie decides to meet with Theo Taylor to see if she can stop the deal. But unexpectedly, she ends up in a fake relationship with Theo, hoping it might help both of them.
Since fake dating is one of my favorite romance tropes, I was excited to dive into “LOVE YOU, MEAN IT” by Jilly Gagnon, expecting to adore the story. However, it starts with a lot of talk about “white privilege,” which put me off the main character. I prefer my light and fun romance without heavy real-world issues like racism. Because of this, I struggled to root for the romance.
Overall, I’d rate this book two and a half stars. Some readers might enjoy it, but it wasn’t my cup of tea.
