This novel centers around a cello and a violin, encapsulating the intricate dance between two musicians entangled in love. While some readers may find this book captivating, others, like myself, may struggle to connect with its characters and storyline.
The first half of the book offers an okay introduction, but the second half feels prolonged and less engaging. The characters, Xander/Alex and Elliot, share similar personalities, offering little in terms of fresh character development. Gwen, although likable, occasionally makes questionable decisions that can be frustrating.
The frequent appearances of Ama in the first half add to the annoyance, detracting from the overall enjoyment of the story. Julie Soto’s writing style didn’t resonate with me, and I found myself unlikely to pick up another of her books.
Despite the hype surrounding a particular cello scene, which did deliver along with the other spicy scenes, the book overall felt dull.
