Concerned for her ailing father and dealing with her own trauma, Vandy juggles her responsibilities while trying to do her best for her clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her latest assignment involves Leo Hannah, the Mayor\u2019s nephew, who hires her to track his wife’s movements. What starts as a routine surveillance job quickly escalates into a racially charged murder case. Vandy suspects there’s more to the case, especially with the powerful and secretive Hannah family involved. Determined to uncover the truth, Vandy risks everything, including her own life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Trouble in Queenstown”<\/strong> is a riveting murder mystery narrated from Vandy\u2019s first-person perspective. The novel’s structure, weaving various plot threads together, is compelling. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The depiction of small-town dynamics, socioeconomic differences, and power politics creates an intriguing setting. The complex mystery, infused with humor, keeps readers engaged. Vandy emerges as a strong, smart, and dedicated protagonist, with a relatable vulnerable side. Her personal struggles are seamlessly integrated into the primary narrative, never distracting from the murder mystery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporting characters are well-developed, particularly Vandy\u2019s dynamic with Ingrid. While some moments require suspension of disbelief and certain aspects of the final reveal feel contrived, the build-up, twists, and increasing tension make for an engaging read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was my first time reading Delia Pitts, and I look forward to exploring more of her work. I paired my reading with the audiobook, expertly narrated by Bahni Turpin, who brought Vandy\u2019s character to life, enhancing the immersive experience. I highly recommend the audiobook for a captivating listen!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
