“The Mother Act PDF” by Heidi Reimer is her first debut novel from literary fiction. At first, I felt it was a bit slow, but around 30% into the story, I started getting interested in the relationship between Sadie and Jude, the mother and daughter.

The book shows us their complicated bond at different times in their lives. Both Sadie and Jude are talented actresses, which makes their connection even more complex.

I liked how Heidi Reimer includes the theater in both women’s lives and how it shapes their characters.

Damian, a character in the story, was interesting because we get to see him from Jude’s perspective in the first half, and then from Sadie’s in the second half. This helped me understand his strengths and weaknesses better.

I think this book would be good for a book club discussion. Maybe Reese Witherspoon would like it?

Why three stars? Well, besides the slow start, I also found the ending a bit unclear. I enjoyed the book, but I didn’t love it.
